Synopsis
This course is designed to focus on the didactic knowledge needed for management of extraction sockets. Topics include biologic principles pertaining to the healing of extraction sockets, rationale for socket preservation, socket preservation versus ridge augmentation, properties of biomaterials and achievable results, surgical techniques available for socket preservation, and surgical techniques available for ridge augmentation following extractions.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

Nikolaos Soldatos, DDS, MSD, PhD,is an associate professor in the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston. He is a graduate and former faculty member of the Dental School of Athens at National and Kapodistrian University in Greece, where he also earned a PhD from the Medical School. After earning a certificate in periodontics and a Master of Science in Dental Medicine from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, he joined the faculty in the Division of Periodontics, Department of Surgical Dentistry as an assistant professor while completing an implant fellowship. In 2015, Dr. Soldatos joined UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston. His clinical interests include implantology, guided bone regeneration and soft-tissue regeneration. Dr. Soldatos is a member of several professional societies and has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals in both the U.S. and Europe. |
Pedro M. Trejo, DDS, MS,is a dual-specialist in Prosthodontics and Periodontics. He earned a certificate in Prosthodontics from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and a certificate and Master Degree in Periodontics from UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston, Texas. He has treated numerous cases involving virtual, guided implant surgeries. Dr. Trejo is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Periodontics at the School of Dentistry, and has maintained a private practice specializing in Periodontics and Prosthodontics in Houston, Texas. He also has extensive experience in restorative dentistry and clinical and instructional implant surgical. |
