Cizik School of Nursing Emergency/Trauma Care concentration focuses on different aspects of emergency care and is offered as a post-graduate certificate or as an add on concentration to the Family Nurse Practitioner MSN. Students enrolled in the program will focus on patient presentations in emergency departments and acute ambulatory care settings including resuscitative trauma. Additionally, students will acquire knowledge in high acuity emergency presentations including management of chronic disease exacerbation.

Enrollment Options

How to Apply

Career Opportunities

Completion of the ETC concentration will open doors to emergency departments, urgent care centers and fast-paced primary care settings in urban and rural areas. Family nurse practitioner graduates cannot work in intensive care units in tertiary settings in accordance with the Consensus model 2008 trauma. The ETC graduate will meet the competencies for NPs in emergency care.

Financial Support

德州高等教育协调委员会的出现ncy and Trauma Care Education Partnership (ETEP) grants program provides financial support to students accepted into Cizik School of Nursing's Emergency/Trauma Care Program. The funds, when available, are intended to help students cover lost wages due to the heavy clinical load in the third semester. Admitted ETC students classified as Texas residents for tuition purposes are considered for funding.

Student Support

Each student at Cizik School of Nursing is assigned a primary advisor at the time of admission to the program. The student and the academic advisor will complete a plan to specify which courses are to be taken to complete the requirements. If accepted into the ETC program, Dr. Ramirez will serve as secondary advisor and will work closely with the primary advisor to ensure that degree requirements are clearly established and adhered to for both programs.

Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston reserve the right to withdraw courses at any time, to change fees or tuition, calendar, curriculum, degree requirements, graduation procedures, and any other requirements affecting students. Changes will become effective whenever the proper authorities so determine and will apply to both prospective students and those already enrolled.
