Biography

Dr. Ashley Hedrick is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the UTHealth School of Public Health Cancer Control & Research Training Program. She recently graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Ph.D. in media and communication, with an emphasis in health communication. She is passionate about understanding how attitudes and beliefs impact sexual health outcomes and using health communication interventions to target attitude change. At UTHealth, she is excited to apply this expertise to cervical and breast cancer prevention efforts.

Research Description

She is particularly interested in using online spaces and digital health interventions to change adolescents’ attitudes and beliefs. Currently, she is pursuing formative research to develop a health communication intervention that encourages survivors of sexual assault to seek out cervical and breast cancer screenings.
