The Data Science and Informatics Core for Cancer Research (DSICCR) at the School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI), the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), has a bioinformatics postdoc position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:The successful candidate are expected to receive postdoctoral training in the area of data science AI and informatics through research projects within DSICCR. Candidate will be involved in study design, data collection, analysis pipeline development, data analysis, and results interpretation, as well as manuscript writing. There could also be opportunities participating in grant proposal preparation and teaching/mentoring. Collaborative research with faculty at UTHealth and other Texas institutions is included among the candidate’s responsibilities. The successful candidate will join a dynamic faculty at SBMI who are active in research, education, and applying informatics to clinical practice.

DSICCR has a robust computing infrastructure, a cross-disciplinary team, and a productive track record in the area of data science, informatics, and artificial intelligence. UTHealth is in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center (TMC) located in cosmopolitan Houston, Texas, the fourth largest city in the United States. SBMI currently offers PhD and Master's degrees; it also features certificate programs in biomedical and health informatics.

APPOINTMENTS/BENEFITS:This position is a full time, 12-month appointment renewable on a yearly basis.

Qualifications:The individual should possess a PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, or other quantitive sciences with research and training in bioinformatics. A record of verifiable, published research in bioinformatics is required. Excellent teamwork, communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain high quality collaborations are required.
