Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) Position – Software Development

A GRA position is available at the School of Biomedical Informatics. This position will work with Dr. Kirk Roberts to perform the following duties:

Job Description:
This GRA will be responsible for -

1. Development and evaluation of machine learning models to analyze unstructured health data, which may include data from electronic health records (EHRs), biomedical literature and social media
2. Data harvesting and preprocessing
3. Management of data annotation in coordination with annotators with clinical experience
4. Development of manuscripts and conference publications

Requirements:

Candidate must be currently enrolled as a student in a program at UTHealth. The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of Python and machine learning (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras), have experience with handling large scale multimodal datasets, and familiar with human subjects research.

Potential Projects:

The individual working in this position will have the opportunity to work on projects related to natural language processing (NLP), including projects specifically on EHR data, biomedical literature articles, and social media postings.
