We invite current SBMI Students to participate in Career Day 2021 on Friday, April 16. The event will be 100% virtual and hosted on both GoToWebinar and WebEx. During Career Day, SBMI students will:

• Discuss what tools are needed for the professional world
• Develop professional networking skills

SIC Positive Impact Scholarship and Disaster Relief Scholarship Opportunities

The Student InterCouncil (SIC) has developed a student scholarship for UTHealth students experiencing financial challenges due to recent disasters (COVID-19 and/or Winter Storm Uri); and for students who have made positive impacts during the recent disasters. These funds are provided by UTHealth's student government, in partnership with Auxiliary Services, for the sole means of helping and honoring students.

Due to the cancelation of several SIC events during the 2020-2021 academic year, the SIC has decided to use their remaining available fund balance in support of students through these scholarships.

The scholarship selection will be based solely on the SIC Disaster Relief and SIC Positive Impact scholarship applications; how the scholarship funds will help them; and students’ personal narratives on how the disaster(s) affected them, or how they made a positive impact during one of the recent disasters. All students may apply for these scholarships, and there is no financial basis for applying. These funds will not affect your financial aid package, and are not related to the FAFSA. These funds may have tax implications.

TxHIMA Scholarship Application Now Open

Each year the Texas Health Information Management Association (TxHIMA) awards several education scholarships to students who demonstrate academic achievement and commitment to the field of health information management in Texas. TxHIMA promotes education and recruitment of new students as critical success factors for the HIM profession.

TxHIMA currently has two scholarship opportunities available for eligible SBMI students. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 23, 2021.

UTHealth 2021 Student Perception Survey Now Open

All SBMI students are invited to participate in the 2021 UTHealth Student Perception Survey (SPS). The SPS is a comprehensive and confidential survey of the student experience at UTHealth with respect to central student services. Student input and feedback are important, and results provide campus and school-based leaders with information needed to assess and improve the overall quality of central student services.
