TAMIU Baccalaureate Accelerated Program (4 + 1) Certificate in Biomedical Informatics

Students who are accepted into the BAP (4+1) program will complete select graduate courses during their last year of undergraduate study which will simultaneously satisfy remaining undergraduate requirements as well as program requirements for the Certificate in Biomedical Informatics. During the last semester of undergraduate study, students will apply to the graduate degree program at SBMI to complete the remaining semester credit hours required for the Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics. The remaining 30 semester credit hours can be completed in one year, if enrolled full-time.

BAP (4+1) program graduates will have the education, skill set and experience needed to enter the workforce in a variety of biomedical informatics fields. Students will be well prepared to continue with their education through doctoral studies or in professional degrees such as nursing, medicine, dentistry or pharmacy.

Admission Requirements to the TAMIU Baccalaureate Accelerated Program
(4 + 1) Certificate in Biomedical Informatics

Step 1

TAMIU BAP (4+1) Pre-Application

The admission process for the BAP (4+1) program requires the submission of both aTAMIU BAP (4+1) Pre-Applicationand an SBMI application. Both applications must include all supplemental documents. Complete theBAP Pre-Application (4 + 1)where you will be asked to upload the following items:

  1. Copy of TAMIU Degree Audit or unofficial transcript
  2. One Letter of Recommendation
  3. 问答题

All documents must be submitted by October 1 for the Spring admission deadline, February 1 for the Summer admission deadline, and June 1 for the Fall admission deadline.Candidates who successfully make it through the pre-application process will be cleared to begin Step 2.

Step 2

SBMI Application

Upon meeting the requirements in Step 1, submit an SBMI application.

The completed application requires the following items:

  1. $60 application fee
  2. One Letter of Recommendation
  3. Two page goal statement
  4. An official transcript with minimum of a 3.0 or higher degree in an appropriate area, e.g., biomedical science, pre-med, nursing, life sciences, MIS, or computer science. Any dual credit or AP credits must be verified on the transcript from the present college or an official transcript from the awarding college or program

Each applicant must submit all required admissions materials for the graduate certificate by the following dates:

  • Spring admission - November 1
  • Summer admission - March 1
  • Fall admission - July 1
