Letra elected vice president of IADR Women in Science Network

Dr. Ariadne M. Letra has been elected vice president of the IADR Women in Science Network.

Professor Ariadne M. Letra, DDS, MS, PhD, interim associate dean for research, of UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry has been elected vice president of the International Association for Dental Research’sWomen in Science Network.

The elected term is for one year and began July 24 at the conclusion of the 2021 Virtual IADR/AADOCR/CADR General Session and Exhibition.

The IADR Women in Science Network aims to serve the need for promoting the interests of women, communication, research collaboration, and career mentoring among — but not restricted to — female members.

The election was conducted in accordance with theIADR Scientific Groups and Networks Governance Handbook.

Letra was also recently inducted as a fellow in the AADOCR Fellows Program, which is designed to recognize leaders of AADOCR and individuals who have served AADOCR in various ways throughout their careers. She was recognized during the IADR/AADOCR/CADR General Session opening ceremonies.

Letra earned her doctorate of dental surgery and master of science degrees from Fluminense Federal University Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She holds a doctorate in philosophy from Bauru Dental School, University of Sao Paulo, Bauru, Brazil, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Letra joined the UTHealth School of Dentistry faculty in 2011.
