UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry to host blood drive Dec. 6

UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry will host a blood drive in conjunction with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6.

Donors must be at least 18 years old and present valid ID. Appointments are strongly encouraged andmay be made online.

More than 800 donations per day are needed by patients in the Texas Gulf Coast region. One blood donation could help save up to three lives.

The School of Dentistry routinely holds blood drives throughout the calendar year. At its Sept. 24 date, 30 units of blood were collected, which will be used to save 90 lives.

The Dec. 6 drive marks the final blood drive of 2021 at the dental school. Dates for 2022 will be announced in the new year.

UTHealth Houston’s Miscellaneous Leave Policy (HOOP185) allows paid time off for eligible employees to donate blood up to four times per fiscal year. Documentation is required.
