School of Dentistry's 3rd annual Diversity, Inclusion, & Equity Week goes virtual

Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott shared a special message on her "Texanthropy" initiative during thethird annual Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Week at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. Held virtually for the first time due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the week-long event sawparticipants tune in via Cisco Webex for a variety of programs organized by theDiversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Wellness Council.

Joy-Thomas named chair of diagnostic & biomedical sciences

Dean John Valenza, DDS, has named Professor Anita Joy-Thomas, BDS, PhD, chair of the Department of Diagnostic and Biomedical Sciences at UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston, effective Jan. 1, 2021. She previously served as the interim chair in 2020.

Nine-year-old Grace Moss of Laredo, Texas, was facing a daunting prospect. A tumor that had invaded her jaw had been removed, but now the plastic surgeon wanted to remove her fibula - the smaller of the two bones in her lower leg - to use as a graft. Fortunately, her dad, Dwayne Moss, discovered an article featuring someone atUTHealthwho could provide Grace with a high-tech treatment option - her own stem cells.

A lack of a protein in the brain that keeps our tissues healthy as we age is linked to Alzheimer’s disease, according to recent research from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

The deadline to submit the annual Financial Disclosure Statement is March 31, 2021.

Online Financial Disclosure Statement for 2020 now available

All faculty and certain staff are required to submit a disclosure of financial interests and outside activities each year by UT System policy and the UTHealthConflict of Interest, Conflict of Commitment and Outside Activities Policy.
