Her doctoral work was completed at UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where she investigated genetic susceptibility to head and neck cancers. She has previously worked in several countries -- including Brazil, Kuwait, India, and Australia -- as a clinical dentist, researcher and academician.

Currently, Dr. Neumann is a professor and director of dental public health in the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health at UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston, where she directs didactic courses for graduate and undergraduate students and participates in clinical teaching and research. She serves as co-investigator of a NIDCR-funded study, “Implementing Dental Quality Measures in Practice,” which employs longitudinal clinical data from electronic health records and theBigMouth Dental Data Repositoryto evaluate the quality of oral health care.

In collaboration with UTHealth School of Public Health, she directs the newly established DDS/MPH dual-degree program with the goal of expanding and enhancing formal public health training for undergraduate dental students.

Her research interests include school-based oral health promotion interventions and dental public health informatics. Dr. Neumann serves on committees at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry and the American Dental Education Association. She is a graduate of the American Dental Education Association’s Leadership Institute.
