Ruth E. Conn, RDH, MSDH, is a clinical associate professor in the Dental Hygiene Program of the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD). Prior to joining the UTSD faculty in 2012, she practiced clinical dental hygiene for 34 years, working in family and pediatric offices.
Mrs. Conn graduated from UTSD in 1978 with a certificate in dental hygiene. She earned a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene from UTSD in 2011, and in 2015 completed a master's degree in dental hygiene through UTHealth San Antonio School of Dentistry.
Mrs.Conn served as clinic coordinator from 2015-2019 and currently teaches clinical and didactic courses and presents continuing-education courses. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and the American Dental Education Association. Mrs. Conn has served as secretary for the Greater Houston Dental Hygienists' Society from 2014-2016 and currently serves as Chair of the Bylaws Committee.
In 2016, UTSD dental hygiene students chose her as winner of the Lorna J. Bruning Award for Outstanding Teaching.
