Edgar N. Starcke, Jr., DDS, FACP, graduated from The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston in 1963. After postgraduate training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in Alabama, he returned to Houston and joined the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics in 1973. He has held many appointments in the department since then, including Interim Chair for a year, and he is currently a volunteer professor.
From 1972 through 1996, Dr. Starcke held many important positions in the Dental Service at Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Administration Medical Center in Houston, ranging from from staff prosthodontist to Program Director, Chief of Dental Service and Administrative Head of the VA Preventive Dentistry Support Center. On the national level, Dr. Starcke served on the VA Assistant Chief Medical Director for Dentistry’s Advisory Council and as faculty on the VA Physicians and Dentists In-Residence Program, VACO, Washington, DC.
Dr. Starcke is very interested in the history of dental articulators and has authored many articles on the subject. He is the archivist for UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston in the Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics Department and keeps thewebsiteup to date.
