Dr. Nikolaos Soldatos is an associate professor of the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), where he is currently president of the Faculty Senate at the School of Dentistry. Dr. Soldatos is certified by the American Board of Periodontology as a periodontist and implant surgeon.

He earned a DDS in 2006 from the School of Dentistry, National and Kapodistrian University in Athens, Greece, and joined the faculty as a clinical instructor in the Department of Prosthodontics from 2007-2011, leaving to serve a year in the Greek Army.

In 2012, Dr. Soldatos completed his PhD at the Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. His doctoral research was on the ''Correlation of microalbuminuria, c-reactive protein and chronic periodontitis in hypertensive, non-diabetic patients.'' In 2015, he earned a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science in Dental Medicine from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus. He completed an implant fellowship that same year and became an assistant professor in the Department of Surgical Dentistry, Division of Periodontics, at the University of Colorado. In December 2015, Dr. Soldatos joined the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry as an assistant professor.

Dr. Soldatos is member of numerous professional societies in the U.S. and Europe. His clinical interests include implant dentistry, guided bone regeneration, soft-tissue regeneration, and surgical treatment of periodontitis and peri-implantitis. He has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed European and American journals.
