The Interventional Heart Failure Fellowship is a one year Texas Medical Board Approved program that provides in-depth training beyond interventional cardiology training. The primary objective of the training program is to provide qualified physicians with a balanced, structured, and scholarly experience in the emerging field of Interventional Heart Failure. The IHF fellow will gain a deeper understanding of heart failure physiology, diagnosis, and management with further in-depth technical training related to device implementation and management for patients with cardiogenic shock or with advanced heart failure.
The IHF fellow will provide patient care primarily inpatient including the catheterization laboratory and intensive care units. The fellow will be trained to manage care for acute heart failure patients, perform percutaneous mechanical assist devices, structural heart disease, invasive hemodynamic assessment, and manage percutaneous devices to recovery, bridge to definitive surgical device therapy, or heart transplantation. The fellow will gain the knowledge to percutaneously manage LVAD complications and heart transplant complications.
Requirements and Eligibility
We are currently recruiting for 2022. To be eligible, the applicant must have completed an ACGME accredited cardiology and interventional cardiology training in the United States. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Interventional Cardiology.
