2018年4月12日,你好, Today I’d like to shine the spotlight on our Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases (IMM). This research institute is focused on better understanding diseases at the genetic, cellular, and molecular levels. Scientists at IMM collaborate broadly across our 23 medical school departments. Dr. John Hancock, executive director of the IMM and McGovern Medical School vice dean of research, is also chair of the Department of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology. For the past seven years, he has published the IMMpact Report – an annual report that showcases the important work of the IMM, including profiles of each faculty member. I am delighted to share the newest issue with you在这里. Dr. Hancock hosts the annual IMMpact Symposium each spring, where faculty present their groundbreaking work in a public seminar. This year’s event will be held 4- 6:30 p.m., April 18, at the Fayez S. Sarofim Research Building. Featured speakers are Dr. Brian Davis, director of the IMM’s Center for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, speaking on “Cut, Copy, Paste: Gene Correction in Cystic Fibrosis” and Dr. Radbod Darabi, assistant professor of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, presenting “Muscular Dystrophies: New Hope from Gene Editing.” A panel discussion will include Drs. Keely Smith, Ian Butler, Suur Biliciler, and Pedro Mancias who will add comments on the clinical aspects of cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy. I hope to see you at the symposium.
