Biography

Dr. Shantanu Guha received his B.A. in Biology at Austin College in Sherman, TX and then moved to New Orleans, LA to earn his MPH in Epidemiology and PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a focus in Biochemistry. He then moved back to Texas to start a postdoctoral fellowship in Houston at UT Health McGovern Medical School. In his current role, Shantanu uses his training in peptide biophysics and biochemistry to design and synthesize novel antifungal peptides. Research Description

Dr. Guha works as a postdoctoral research fellow in the lab of Dr. Danielle Garsin. It is a multi-focused lab in the department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at McGovern Medical School and has projects ranging from 1) Host Response of Infected Caenorhabditis elegans, 2) Ethanolamine Utilization in Bacterial Pathogens, and 3) Interactions between Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans. Currently he is in the process of synthesizing and screening a library of thousands of peptides to develop novel antifungal peptides.
