SBMI Data Service Coordination Office

The UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI) formed a health data service in response to the growing number of health datasets available at the school and the increased need to utilize those datasets for research and education purposes.Working with the newly established Data Science and Informatics Core for Cancer Research (DSICCR),SBMI Data Serviceprovides technical assistance and consulting services to qualified clients.

It was determined that coordination would be required to manage the data and provide service, in order to:

• Maximize the use of existing data to produce excellent data science research, as well as facilitate funding
• Educate trainees by providing real-world datasets
• Expand collaborations with other schools and institutions
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and contractual agreements

Mission

The mission of theSBMI Data Service是facilitate and enhance interdisciplinary research dedicated to scientific discovery, with the ultimate goal of improving patient safety and quality of care.
