Enrique Garcia-Sayan, MD, FACC, FASE

Biography

Dr. Enrique Garcia-Sayan received his medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit, MI), where he served as Chief Resident, and a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Rush University Medical Center (Chicago, IL), where he served as Chief Fellow. He practiced as a Cardiologist at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, before joining the faculty at UTHealth McGovern Medical School in 2017. He currently serves as Director of the section of Cardiology and the Echocardiography Laboratory at Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital. Additionally, he has expertise in advanced and interventional echocardiography; he is involved in the imaging and guidance of complex cardiac interventions and several clinical trials with the structural heart team at Memorial Hermann- Texas Medical Center.

Dr. Garcia-Sayan’s clinical interests include management of patients with complex valvular and structural heart disease, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, preventive cardiology, as well as cardiovascular imaging. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. Furthermore, he is active in professional societies at the local and national level and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.

Dr. Garcia-Sayan enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows. His research interests include cardiovascular imaging and cardiovascular disease in Hispanics, and he has published several papers in peer-reviewed publications in his field.
