Masayuki Nigo, MD

Biography

Masayuki Nigo, M.D., graduated from Fukui University, Fukui, Japan in 2005. After residency in Japan, he completed internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York in 2013. He performed his infectious diseases fellowship at the UTHealth McGovern Medical School, followed by a year of Advanced Infectious Diseases Fellowship for Transplant Infectious Diseases. He joined the Division of Infectious Diseases faculty in July, 2016. His main interests are transplant infectious diseases and outpatient parenteral antibiotics (OPAT) management.

Dr. Nigo currently manages OPAT at Lyndon B. Johnson hospital, and is a chair of Ambulatory Care Service Infection Prevention subcommittee for Harris Health System, in addition to clinical duties at each our affiliated hospitals/clinics.

His current research projects include pre-transplant screenings in solid organ transplant recipients and other infectious complications, including drug resistant organisms.

Dr. Nigo is ID/IM board certified in the U.S. as well as Japan, and enjoys teaching residents and fellows.
