Biography
Lisa Kan, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Faillace Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She earned her doctorate in the clinical psychology from Sam Houston State University, and she is a licensed psychologist in Texas and Virginia. She has worked with justice-involved individuals in both research and clinical contexts, across various settings and jurisdictions. She is currently a member of the telehealth team, conducting remote competency to stand trial evaluations with defendants committed to North Texas State Hospital.
Prior to joining UTHealth, Kan was a tenure-track assistant professor at her alma mater, where she taught undergraduate and graduate students, mentored student research, and supervised psychology trainees in evidence-based evaluations and interventions. She then joined The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD as an analyst, before she served as research director at the Harris County Community Supervision & Corrections Department. Her clinical and research interests include multicultural issues and use of psychological testing in forensic evaluations.
