Biography

Omar D. Gonzales, MD,is an assistant professor in the Faillace Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Since serving as the chief resident of inpatient psychiatry at UTHealth from 2019-2020, he now works as a clinician and educator at UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center. His academic interests include the treatment of severe mental illness, graduate medical education, and humanism in medicine. He has a record of mentoring trainees at several levels, and he participates in the UTHealth Psychiatry Residency Curriculum Committee and UT Austin Dean’s Scholars Mentorship Program. He received the Ann Saunders, MD – Excellence in Clinical Care Award and a Medical Student Teaching Award.
