Biography

Scott Lane, PhD,is a professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He co-directs the Center for Neurobehavioral Research on Addictions (CNRA). Additionally, Dr. Lane serves as the Director of Research at UTHealth Harris County Psychiatric Center. He is a member of the Neuroscience Program faculty of the M.D. Anderson – UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS).

Dr. Lane has been NIH funded through NIDA and/or NIAAA since 1997, and has also received foundation and industry funding. He utilizes techniques from psychopharmacology, cognitive neuroscience, and psychophysics to examine problems of attentional bias, decision-making, impulse control, and brain white matter structure in individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) and disorders commonly co-morbid with SUD. His work has been published in over 150 peer reviewed journals. He is a recipient of the Wyeth-Ayerst/APA Young Psychopharmacologist award (2001), the John P. McGovern Award for Outstanding Teaching (2014), and the UTHealth John P. McGovern Endowed Research Scholar Award (2016). He has mentored over 20 graduate students, residents, post-doctoral fellows, and junior faculty during the past two decades.
