Biography

Dr. James Wilson earned his dentistry degree at the University of North Carolina’s School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. He completed an internship at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Dallas and a residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

Dr. Wilson is a professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. He also serves as director of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at McGovern Medical School and chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Hospital Dentistry at Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center.

A diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Wilson is a former president of the Houston Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and received the organization’s Distinguished Service Award in 2012. He has earned the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence at UTHealth and serves as president of the Dean’s Academy of Distinguished Teachers. He is a frequent presenter at local, state and national meetings and author of many professional journal articles.
