Biography
Dr. Melissa Felinski is an Assistant Professor at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). She also serves as Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital.
She graduated with honors from the University of Florida. She earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she ranked in the top 10% of her class. Dr. Felinski completed her general surgery residency at TriHealth – Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She then completed a fellowship in advanced gastrointestinal and minimally invasive surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (now known as McGovern Medical School at UTHealth), where she received formal training in robotic bariatric surgery. She is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is currently a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
While interested in general surgery, Dr. Felinski’s primary clinical focuses are surgery of the upper gastrointestinal tract (including surgery for reflux/heartburn, hiatal hernias, achalasia, ulcer disease), surgical endoscopy and weight loss surgery.
