Biography

Tamara Ellis Saunders, MD, FACS is a general and breast surgeon affiliated with Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, Memorial Hermann -Texas Medical Center, Memorial Herman – Southeast, and the Woman’s Hospital of Texas, and is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at UTHealth McGovern Medical School.

Board certified in General Surgery, Dr. Saunders earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and completed her general surgery internship and residency at UTHealth. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Saunders is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology and the Association of Academic Surgeons. With extensive experience in performing operations for diseases of the breast, her clinical focus is on breast conservation using oncoplastic techniques, axillary preservation, personalized treatment plans. She treats benign and malignant conditions of the breast.
