At UTHealth, the Mobility Program enables eligible employees to apply pre-tax income deducted from their paychecks to their Metro Q-Card or Woodlands Express or Fort Bend Express monthly pass. The program also allows for participation in a METRO Star Van Pool in which the subsidy is paid directly to METRO. In an effort to promote employees’ mass-transit commuting, UTHealth reinstated a program in May 2017, limited to 300 participants, to subsidize METRO, The Woodlands Express and Fort Bend Express ridership to a maximum of 300 participants. Those participants will receive a 60 percent UTHealth-provided subsidy (capped at $55 per month) in support of their commuting costs. Other participants utilizing pre-tax deductions will be placed on a wait list for the subsidy and will be notified should a spot become available.
