As the assistant vice president for Public Affairs, Meredith Raine leads the strategy for telling the stories of UTHealth Houston, its people and its programs. She serves as the chief communications officer and oversees the Public Affairs program including branding and creative services, internal and external communications, media relations, and multimedia.
Since 2001, Meredith has worked collaboratively with the administration, schools, clinics and primary teaching hospitals to increase awareness of UTHealth Houston and strengthen its brand. She serves as a first responder for emergency communication and also supports the university’s marketing initiatives.
Before coming to UTHealth Houston, Meredith was an award-winning journalist who reported for newspapers in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Texas. She is a graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Leisa McCord joined the Office of Public Affairs in November 2018, and serves as the chief editor of content produced in Public Affairs and Development. She also provides editorial support for school- and clinic-based communicators. A communications professional with a broad range of experience, Leisa previously worked at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor College of Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Baylor University.
