Member Spotlight: Elmer Sigaran

UCSC Member Elmer Sigaran felt as though all stars aligned when his now manager, sent him an inquiry on LinkedIn about an opening on UTHealth’s Talent Acquisition Team. He saw an opportunity that would help marry his passion for helping the community and love for recruitment.

“I’ve been working as a Talent Acquisition Specialist at UTHealth for just under 3 years and am honored to work in recruitment. I am very fortunate to work with amazing clients, candidates, and help our schools and medical teams meet their department needs and goals.

Currently, I am working on some very important COVID related projects by assisting the School of Public Health in hiring case investigators, data collectors, and other essential staff.”

Elmer joined University Classified Staff Council (UCSC) in hopes of expanding his network and having a lager impact on the organization. By supporting the Staff Recognition Committee, he can share his perspective and resources as a recruiter.

“I joined UCSC because I am passionate about building strong relationships with individuals across the institution. It essential in gaining firsthand knowledge about the departments we support in Human Resources.”

Outside of work, Elmer has a wide variety of interests that range from gardening and theatre to traveling, hiking and discovering new restaurants.

“I love traveling. I’ve been fortunate to visit many countries in Europe, Central America, and throughout the US. I’m a huge foodie too. I’m one to try the newest restaurants in my area and

venture out to try new cuisines.”

In addition to his role in Human Resources, Elmer is often busy working as a fitness instructor and full-time “dog dad” to his pups Bruiser and Sonic.

“A huge passion of mine is health and wellness. Outside of work, I am a group exercise instructor and have the opportunity to work at a couple of Houston area gyms.”

University Classified Staff Council (UCSC) is very excited to have Elmer serving his second year as a member and for the ongoing value he continues to add to the group.
