Biography

FernandoGomez-Rivera, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He received his medical degree from Universidad La Salle in Mexico City, and then Dr. Fernando Gomez-Rivera completed his residency in General Surgery in Mexico. He pursued fellowships in Surgical Oncology in Birmingham, Alabama and Head and Neck Surgery at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr. Fernando Gomez-Rivera did his surgery internship and otorhinolaryngology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Centerat Houston. Before returning to Houston, he was a staff physician at Sentara Southern Virginia Ear, Nose and Throat.

His clinical interests include all aspects of general otolaryngology, including thyroid and parathyroid disorders, salivary gland diseases, laryngeal disorders, ear infections, and tonsil and adenoid diseases as well as conditions of the nose and paranasal sinuses. Dr. Gomez-Rivera, in conjunction with UTHealth Audiology, evaluates hearing loss, dizziness, tinnitus and related conditions. He has a special interest in procedures for sleep apnea.

Dr. Gomez-Rivera sees patients at the Department’s Texas Medical Center and Southeast Houston offices. He performs procedures primarily at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital.
