The Office of Communications at McGovern Medical School has debuted a new新型冠状病毒肺炎News Page, a central location for all pandemic related news, events, photos, and more happening around the McGovern community.

A visit to the new COVID-19 News page will offer an archive of all COVID-19 related news stories featuring McGovern students, faculty, and staff. During the pandemic, students and professors have had to adjust to an online curriculum as well as virtual events such as Match Day and the annual Henry Strobel Retreat, while physicians and scientists have become leaders in clinical care and COVID-19 research, and other faculty have led volunteer efforts to help the Houston community. Read all of these stories and more through the “Recent Headlines” of the COVID-19 news site.

Also on the new site, is an archive to the most recent COVID-19 Digests. Created by the Infectious Disease Interest Group, and led by faculty adviser and professor of medicine Luis Ostrosky, MD, McGovern Medical school students developed the “Weekly Digest of COVID-19 Guidelines.” The digest is an electronic newsletter which compiles a list of updates from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), to help health care professionals and students at UTHealth stay abreast of the latest information regarding best practices in COVID-19 care.

From extra social distancing measures being implemented on campus, to the collection and distribution of personal protective equipment, and students participating in virtual lessons, the COVID-19 pandemic has shown the world in a new light. The “Seen Across Campus” section of the COVID-19 News page displays an archived photo gallery of all visual items related to the pandemic across the McGovern community.

For external publications featuring McGovern Medical School students, faculty, and staff, the COVID-19 News page features an archive of the latest news stories from some of the top news sites from around the world.

If you have a story or a photo you think should be featured on the McGovern Medical School COVID-19 News Page, send an email toms.communications@uth.tmc.edu.
