Mosquera named chief of Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy/Immunology and Sleep Medicine

Mary Aitken, MD, professor and Dan L. Duncan Distinguished University Chair in儿科has namedRicardo Mosquera, MD, as chief of the Division of PediatricPulmonology, Allergy/Immunology and Sleep Medicineeffective Jan. 1, 2022.

Mosquera, associate professor of pulmonary medicine, will succeed James Stark, MD, PhD, who has led the division since 2011.

“I am grateful for Dr. Stark’s leadership and service in this important clinical and academic program,” Aitken said. “We are all glad that he will continue to serve as professor in the division, supporting Dr. Mosquera in his new leadership role.”

Mosquera’s work as a clinician-scientist has combined clinical responsibilities with nationally-recognized research focuses on high-quality services for medically complex children. As director of the High Risk Newborn Clinic, he has developed innovative systems of care that have been demonstrated using rigorous research methods to provide cost-effective, high-quality services for these children.

Mosquera completed his medical education at the University of Monterrey, in Monterrey, Mexico, before his residency atTexas A&M University-Driscoll Children’s Hospitalin Corpus Christi, Texas, and a fellowship at UTHealth Houston. He joined the faculty in 2010.
