The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Foundation (STFM) announced医学博士Shira Goldstein, assistant professor in theDepartment of Family and Community Medicine作为其2022年新教师奖的17名获奖者之一。

“As a junior faculty member, navigating the opportunities and challenges of an academic career can be both exciting and daunting,” Goldstein said. “It is for this reason that I am honored to be one of the 17 family physicians nationwide awarded the 2022 New Faculty Scholars Awards by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.”

The award is designed to be a catalyst for developing futureSTFM和学术家庭医学领导者。

“This award allows me to participate in The New Faculty Scholars Program, which offers individual mentorship by national leaders in an array of academic pursuits including teaching, publishing, and seeking promotion,” Goldstein said. “I am honored to join this select cohort of clinicians, and am excited to represent UTHealth Houston on a national scale.”

Goldstein received her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012 before completing an internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2014 and a residency in family medicine at Heritage Valley Beaver in 2016. Goldstein is also the associate director of the Medical Student Education Program.

The STFM is a national community of academic leaders committed to developing an accomplished family medicine workforce, prepared to serve as the foundation of America’s health care system. The STFM hopes to advance family medicine to improve health through a community of teachers and scholars and to become the indispensable academic home for every family medicine educator.
