Dr. Rebecca Tsusaki has more than 25 years of nursing specializing in women’s and infant health as well as pediatric and adult postoperative care. Her research experience includes breastfeeding, preterm infants, nursing education and women’s health. She has been a primary investigator and co-investigator in several studies and has served as a consultant for several R01 studies in collaboration with other universities. Tsusaki earned the Sigma Theta Tau, Zeta Pi, Research Award in both 2011 & 2018.

Tsusaki holds the academic rank of assistant professor of clinical nursing in the Department of Graduate Studies and currently teaches in the MSN and DNP programs. She also has a faculty practice at the Women’s Home in Houston.

Tsusaki earned her PhD in 2013 with her dissertation work on using surface electromyography to study preterm breastfeeding patterns and also earned the UTHealth School of Nursing Faculty Award of Excellence. Tsusaki is a board certified women’s health nurse practitioner and an international board certified lactation consultant. She also completed the UTHSC-Houston Health Educators Fellowship Program in 2017.
