哲学博士Elda拉米雷斯收到她的医生from Texas Woman’s University in 2006, Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (1993), her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1988 and pre-nursing credits from the University of Houston. Ramirez joined Cizik School of Nursing's faculty in 1994 as a clinical instructor in the Acute and Continuing Care Department. She now is Professor of Clinical Nursing.

Ramirez is an experienced educator, researcher and clinician. She has dedicated her career to work collaboratively with emergency care providers and other disciplines to prepare nurse practitioners in the specialty of emergency care. Her work inDeveloping nurse practitioner treatment competencies in emergency care settingshas transformed the practice for nurse practitioners in emergency care by combining this evidence with the Emergency Nurses AssociationNurse Practitioner Delphi Study: competencies for practice in emergency careto develop nationally recognized competencies.

Ramirez has been recognized for her outstanding professional work as shown by induction as: a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) in 2017; Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP); and Fellow of the Emergency Nurses Association (FAEN). She has received over a million dollars in funding from the State of Texas to educate nurse practitioners in the specialty of emergency care. She has recently founded the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP). The mission of this organization is:

The American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners promotes high quality, evidence based practice for nurse practitioners providing emergency care for patients of all ages and acuities in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

She has been awarded a PARTNERS Faculty Research Scholar endowment for 2017-20. Elected by its membership, Ramirez will be chair-elect for FY 2019 of UTHealth's Interfaculty Council.
