Nitha Mathew Joseph, PhD, RN, CNE, is an extremely resourceful and versatile Nurse Educator and Scientist. She has an outstanding track record of achievement directly to her ability to professionally provide comprehensive online and face-to-face teaching services. She has twenty years of nursing experience in various health care settings including critical care, medical-surgical, and adult psychiatry both in India and the United States. She earned her PhD in Nursing from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB). Since 2014 she has worked as an assistant professor at the Cizik School of Nursing UTHealth Houston and currently teaches in the BSN program and RN-BSN program at the Cizik School of Nursing.
As a collaborative nurse leader, Dr. Mathew Joseph continually optimizes the nursing profession through research, publishing and presenting research articles, reviewing academic publications, and creating and executing vital educational technology tools. She has a consistent record of scholarly work disseminated internationally, nationally and locally. She has received research grants to help expand her research area. Dr. Mathew Joseph has certification as a nurse educator through the National League for Nursing. Additionally, she has mentored numerous nurses, faculty and served as lead faculty at many levels in the nursing curriculum. Moreover, she is an innovative team player and mentor displaying unique leadership and learning management skills, in depth analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a proactive work ethic with unparalleled organizational and communication talents.
Moreover, she has received numerous awards and honors. Dr. Mathew Joseph was a national Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar (2012-14) when she was PhD student at UTMB. She also received the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Zeta Pi chapter’s community service award, Good Samaritan Foundation’s Excellence in Nursing Award and Indian American Nurses Association of Greater Houston (IANAGH)’s Nursing Excellence Award in 2018. Moreover, the Houston Chronicle's “Salute to Nurses” program selected her in 2018 as among the "Top 150 Nurses" in the area.
